Creating Your First Event

A step-by-step walkthrough of the event creation form — what each field means and how to set realistic budget and revenue goals.

Creating an event is the first thing you'll do as an organizer. Head to Dashboard → My Events → Create Event to open the event creation form.

Event Details

The details section captures the basics: event name, type (concert, festival, conference, etc.), city, event date, and expected attendance. These are shown to collaborators and sponsors when they review your event.

Be specific with your event type and description. Collaborators and sponsors use this to decide whether to engage with your event.

Budget Breakdown

You'll enter four budget fields:

  • Venue Cost — your expected venue and rental fees.
  • Marketing Budget — what you plan to spend on promotion, flyers, social ads.
  • Production Costs — sound, lighting, equipment, staging.
  • Other Expenses — anything that doesn't fit the above (insurance, permits, catering, etc.).

These numbers become the baseline for your expense tracking. You can update them at any time — they don't lock in.

Revenue Goals

You'll set targets for three revenue streams:

  • Ticket Sales Target — how much you expect to make from ticket sales.
  • Sponsorship Revenue Goal — combined value of all sponsorship packages you're hoping to fill.
  • Other Revenue — merch, vendor fees, VIP upgrades, bar revenue share, etc.

These are estimates

Revenue targets are planning tools, not commitments. The platform shows collaborators your projections alongside the disclaimer that all numbers are estimates. Actual results will vary.

Expected Attendance

Enter your realistic expected attendance. This feeds into the Marketplace listing for sponsors and helps collaborators understand the event's scale. Use a conservative estimate — you can always update it.

After You Save

Your event starts as a draft. You can add expenses, invite collaborators, and create sponsorship packages before making it visible. Once you're ready, publish it from the event settings to make it discoverable.

You can create the event without filling in every field. Come back and add more details as your planning matures.
